Choose Tractive to investigate first if its integrated safety collar fits your cat and you value that mounting arrangement. Choose Weenect to investigate if your cat already wears a suitable quick-release collar and its silicone case can be mounted compatibly without obstructing that release. Confirm the exact fit before buying; the included elastic collar is a different arrangement. Choose neither yet if collar tolerance, release mechanism or mobile coverage is unresolved. A one-second setting is not a promise that every position is correct or available.

These are the two models, not their older relatives
Tractive has sold an earlier CAT Mini. A guide about that device can carry different dimensions and an older fastening method. This comparison uses CAT 6 Mini. Tractive lists the new tracker alone at 25 g and its integrated collar assembly at 32 g; the older CAT Mini is listed at 42 g with its collar. Tractive CAT 6 Mini
The current CAT 6 Mini page states 3 to 8 kg for the cat, an integrated safety collar, 95 × 20 × 13 mm for the tracker and up to seven days with Power Saving Zones. The whole collar weighs 32 g according to Tractive support. The label “up to” depends on how you use the device.
It requires a cellular subscription. Tractive shows a hardware price on a UK product page, but its mixed plan panels are not a reliable single checkout quote for every region. Obtain your own current bill before comparing cash paid.

Weenect XS
The UK model page states a 27 g tracker, 60.5 × 24.5 × 15 mm body and cats from 3 kg. It describes light, sound and vibration alongside Superlive. The included elastic collar is described by the brand as “anti-strangulation”; that phrase does not establish that it is a quick-release or snap collar.
The box illustration is a manufacturer asset. The award and guarantee wording printed on it are historical packaging claims, not an independently verified present-day award, warranty or app result.
A tracker only helps while the collar stays on safely
Start with the full setup your cat would actually wear. The Tractive body is long and curved within an integrated collar; Weenect is a separate compact tracker, but a collar and its attachment add mass and change how it sits. Even a complete weight would not tell you where pressure lands when a cat rests, squeezes through a space or scratches. Check neck fit and the fitting instructions for the exact purchased parts before considering regular use.
Tractive's CAT 6 Mini setup instructions describe a safety mechanism that should be adjusted for the cat's weight. Use that model's instructions and check the collar's condition. Do not assume an older CAT Mini mounting instruction or a generic sliding position applies to CAT 6 Mini.
Cats Protection recommends quick-release or snap collars and advises against elastic collars. That creates a real question for Weenect's included elastic collar. We do not call it a breakaway collar or recommend fastening a tracker in a way that obstructs any release mechanism. Confirm an appropriate compatible arrangement with the manufacturer and observe whether your cat tolerates it. If there is no suitable safe fit, neither tracker has earned a place on that cat yet.

What a location update can tell you, and what it cannot
Tractive's LIVE guidance describes updates every two to three seconds in LIVE mode, while its default mode varies with activity. Weenect's Superlive description describes one-second updates in that mode. Both require the device to obtain a usable position and communicate it. A shorter refresh interval does not correct a poor satellite view, lost mobile connection, flat battery or collar lying somewhere without the cat.
The dot sits on a familiar home area
Check the timestamp and the mode before deciding what the dot means. In a Tractive Power Saving Zone, GPS and mobile transmission can be paused to conserve battery. The zone pin is not proof that your cat is at that exact spot now. Tractive suggests nearby Bluetooth functions, light, sound and LIVE where available when looking for the device. The map stops moving when the cat goes indoors
A roof, basement or dense structure can limit GPS reception; poor network service can also delay a new position. Do not read the last fix as continuous observation. Inspect the last update, battery and connection status in the app and follow the maker's location steps. The tracker moves but the cat is not visible
A tracker follows the collar, not the animal independently. Think through a released or snagged collar, and use the last credible update as a starting point rather than a guarantee. Search safely with a person who can check the area; do not assume that a flashing light, sound or map view ensures recovery.
Before purchase, use the official Weenect country and operator guidance and Tractive's country checker for the actual location where you expect to use the tracker. A country appearing on a coverage list does not establish signal at your own house, garden or rural route. Check the plans and local network conditions rather than treating a global country count as a household test.
Battery claims describe conditions, not your charging diary
Tractive says CAT 6 Mini can last up to seven days with Power Saving Zones. This is not a promise of seven days of frequent LIVE use. Check the battery state before the period when you may need the device, and plan charging around a real opportunity to keep your cat indoors while it is off. Tractive CAT 6 Mini page.
Weenect's UK product page describes up to seven days with Wi-Fi Power Saving Zones and roughly two days of continuous use. Its technical support page instead lists ten days and three days. We cannot reconcile those figures into one tested result or declare an autonomy winner. Ask which current firmware, setting and product specification applies to the unit offered to you.
Power Saving Zones trade some live locating activity for battery time. If an unexpected search begins near a saved zone, learn beforehand what the app can and cannot show there. The best quoted maximum is less useful than a routine that leaves the tracker charged, attached and checked when it matters.
Tractive also lists activity and sleep information. Its feature guidance separates those alerts from resting heart and respiratory information displayed in the Health tab, with availability depending on model and pet type. Do not treat a tracker metric as a diagnosis or assume an automatic vital-sign alert. Tractive's location-history guidance distinguishes Basic's 24 hours from Premium's 365 days; longer history and sharing matter only if the selected plan and coverage fit your household.
Compare the bills you will actually pay
Both devices need a subscription for cellular tracking. A hardware price without a plan understates the cost. Equally, a merchant's rounded “per month” equivalent for a long prepaid term may not equal a confirmed bill for the term, especially across currencies or changing promotions. Copy the current checkout amounts into the worksheet only after confirming country, currency, billing term and what the plan includes.
The calculation counts complete quoted payments needed to cover 12, 24 or 36 months. If a 24-month subscription is the only bill you enter for a 12-month view, the full payment is counted and the remaining 12 months are shown as paid coverage beyond the comparison horizon. That extra coverage is not cash back. Hardware and accessories are added once. No ranking appears when one quote is missing.
Compare cash paid over your chosen period
Enter prices and bills from current quotes in the same currency. No figure is prefilled. Enter 0 for hardware, accessories or a billing-period charge only when the actual quote explicitly says zero. A zero result reflects only the figures you entered, not a real price for either brand.
Formula: hardware + accessories + round up (comparison months ÷ quoted term months) × actual billing-period charge. A term that runs past your comparison period is counted in full. No extra charge is calculated exactly at the end of the chosen horizon.
This is arithmetic, not a forecast or refund estimate. It assumes renewal at the same quoted price, which is an assumption, not a prediction. It does not add taxes or fees that are absent from your quotes, or account for replacements, plan changes and refund terms. Compare the actual coverage, renewal and cancellation terms before buying.
Keep screenshots or notes of the quotes with their date. If the products offer different renewal terms, compare the cash and the coverage side by side, not a headline equivalent. This worksheet assumes renewal at the quoted price without predicting it. It does not add taxes or fees absent from your quotes, replacements or refunds. An existing compatible collar might cost nothing extra; an unconfirmed fitting is not permission to enter zero before checking.

The cat refuses any collar
Neither a 25 g device nor a one-second app setting solves that. Ask whether a safe, comfortable collar is realistically possible. If it is not, do not buy a tracker in the hope that the cat will accept it outdoors. A microchip and a household search plan remain distinct from continuous location tracking.
Coverage is uncertain beyond the garden
Do not infer rural performance from national coverage or a marketing map. Confirm country support, operator conditions and cancellation or return terms for your exact location. If you cannot establish likely network service where you need it, “neither yet” is the practical result.
Several people share the search
Decide who receives alerts, who can see current location and whether family sharing is included in the actual plan. Tractive's plan differences include history and sharing details; do not buy on an assumed feature. Give one person responsibility for charging and for checking the collar's fit.
Your cat already wears a suitable quick-release collar
Weenect describes a silicone case that can attach the XS to your own collar or harness. This may let you investigate using a familiar collar, provided the case fits and does not obstruct its quick-release function. Tractive uses an integrated collar, so assess whether changing the cat's current setup is acceptable. Investigate Tractive CAT 6 Mini if the integrated safety collar can be adjusted correctly for your cat, the service covers your actual area and the plan's bill and features fit the household. Its 32 g figure is for the collar assembly, a helpful starting point for comparing the thing the cat wears.
Investigate Weenect XS if your cat already tolerates a suitable quick-release collar, its silicone case fits that collar without blocking release, the network is suitable and the app functions fit your routine. Its 27 g figure describes the device alone. Faster advertised updates are a feature to evaluate, not a replacement for a reliable fix.
Do not buy yet if collar safety, tolerance, coverage or the actual subscription bill remains unknown. That choice protects you from buying a promising map attached to a setup that does not work for this cat.

Does a one-second update find my cat more accurately?
No such conclusion follows from an update interval. The mode, satellite view, mobile link, battery, collar attachment and timestamp all matter. A recent device position still needs a safe, practical search.
Can a Power Saving Zone hide the cat's exact position?
It can suspend Tractive GPS and network updates while the device is in the zone, so the saved pin is not a current exact position. Check the maker's nearby locating steps and the last update before acting on the map. Tractive help.
Is the Weenect included elastic collar a breakaway collar?
Weenect calls it an anti-strangulation elastic collar. That description does not establish a quick-release mechanism.
